DESI-GNED
desi–gned is New England's first publication for the South Asian diaspora: a compilation of the living archives of ingenious craftsmanship, subaltern histories, and current contemplations, of untold stories that need to be shared. Issue 2 reinterprets and recontextualizes omnipresent fragments of the contemporary. As a designer, this project allows me to blend cultural storytelling with visually compelling design, crafting magazine spreads and covers that resonate with our diverse readership. Through this project, I contribute to a platform that amplifies voices and narratives that often go unheard, reinforcing the power of design in cultural representation.
Issue 2 was officially launched on May 19th, 2024 in the RISD Museum. During the launch event around 150 copies were distributed to professors (from RISD and Brown), RISD Museum curators and the students . As part of the launch event we organized a scavenger hunt and I also designed a few promotional material including posters, handouts and stickers:
